The Cortonesi family recently renamed their winery, previously known as La Mannella. The decision to use their surname was motivated by the acquisition of a new vineyard at Poggiarelli, on the southeastern side of the appellation, thereby avoiding confusion between the name of the winery and the historic La Mannella estate, located on the northern side, in Montosoli. Additionally, it's intended to tie the family more closely to Montalcino. Despite the change, the style of the wines has remained consistent, embodying a Mediterranean character and striking a harmonious balance between structure and fruity aromas. The cru of Brunello I Poggiarelli '18 stands out, with its elegant, poised aromatic suite wrought of red fruits, blackberries, dark flowers, aromatic herbs and tobacco. The palate has a lively tannic grip in harmony with its pulpy fruit, all topped off by a long, fresh and persistent finish. The Rosso '21 goes all in on pleasantness, captivating in the mouth, fresh in its acidity, sweet in its fruit, and well supported by soft, graceful tannins.
