Patrizia Niero’s winery unfolds in Roncà, in the eastern end of the Soave appellation at the foot of Monte Calvarina. The estate extends for many hectares, mainly in this area and in nearby Lessinia, where the most representative grape is Durella by far. Alongside Patrizia are her husband, Silvano, and sons Giacomo and Alessandro, who look after all aspects of production and the commercial side, making for a range that alternates spirited wines with more powerful selections. With the 2019 vintage, the Soave I Tarai took a leap in terms of quality. Its aromatic profile has become deeper, oak more harmonious, while on the palate the wine moves with lightness and charm, made supple by acidity and supported by a gratifying sapidity. Their Lessinia sparkler, the Valgrande ’16, goes all in on fragrance and freshness. It’s a wine that stands out for its immediate aromatic pleasantness and gustatory simplicity.
