Contrada Salandra

Description

Giuseppe Fortunato can undoubtedly be considered one of Italy's most enlightened winemakers. When he speaks of the Phlegraean Fields, his profound knowledge is evident, but above all, his love for a land as beautiful as it is fragile shines through. Fortunato pours this passion into his small vineyard, which he seeks to expand by reclaiming abandoned plots. His wines, made from falanghina and piedirosso, come from vineyards scattered between Coste di Cuma, Monte Sant'Angelo, and Monteruscello. If last year the Falanghina enchanted us, this time we were taken aback by the Piedirosso. From its aromatic profile alone, one understands its commanding character: fresh floral sensations combined with spicy hints, leaning towards blueberry and blackberry, followed by an authentic, savory, crunchy palate, precise in its tannic extraction. The Falanghina remains a prominent white: medicinal herbs mingle with mineral nuances on a lively, taut palate.
