Chiara and Alberto Coffele lead one of Soave’s most important producers, a property of 25 contiguous hectares on the hills surrounding Castelcerino, one of the territory’s most interesting production areas. Elevations ranging from 150-350 meters, soils that alternate limestone with significant layers of lava basalt, and organic vineyard management make for a range that sees Verona whites at the fore. Here they’re interpreted with a focus on finesse rather than on power. Chiara and Alberto’s is a lineup that knows no weak points, starting with a sumptuous version of the Recioto Le Sponde ’19. The nose exhibits a tropical fruit verve highlighted by floral and citrus nuances. In the mouth its bursting sweetness is perfectly balanced by a penetrating and juicy acidity. As for their dry wines, we appreciated the elegance of the Azari ’19, a Soave that impresses for its aromatic delicacy and perfect fusion with oak.
