A few years after the passing of Giuseppe Bianchini (the founder of this influential winery), the Municipality of Montalcino dedicated their stadium to the enlightened entrepreneur, who dedicated his life to promoting the territory. Today his children, Lucia and Paolo, are carrying on his legacy and have established the winery as a regional landmark. The wines tasted this year were of high caliber, radiating warmth and reflecting this southeastern part of the region, showcasing elegant expression of fruit well endowed with acidity. The Brunello Pianrosso '18 puts forth a superb nose, opening on nuances of freshly picked black and red berries, and offering a great spiciness that highlights the apt use of oak for maturation; to close, it plays on whiffs of aromatic herbs and undergrowth. The palate is coherent, fresh with juicy fruit, well supported by noble, vital tannins, with a long, pervasive finish.
