Castell'in Villa has deep roots. Founded in 1967, it produced its first Chianti Classico in 1971. Theirs is a story of continuity, of guaranteeing that the UGA of Castelnuovo Berardenga wouldn't fall victim to fleeting fashion trends, but rather remain firmly rooted in Chianti tradition. The production style is uncompromising, offering soft and delicate hues, austere flavors full of chiaroscuro, as well as complex and nuanced aromas. The Chianti Classico '19 is what we would always want from this wine: a multifaceted, complex, intriguing nose, unfolding amidst dry flowers, shifting red fruit, and sanguine, earthy touches. Then a light, very fresh palate, with a satisfying, deep profile and a clean, sapid finish. The Riserva 2017 is truly a reflection of the vintage. Its fruit is black, the palate close-knit, austere, with slightly drying tannins. We also enjoyed the delicious Gazzarina '22.
