Review

Diego, Adelino and Mirco Pozzobon oversee the family business in Volpago del Montello, almost 20 hectares in the plains around the winery and in nearby Montello, where the plots become smaller, unfolding amidst the sinkholes that characterize the hills between the plains and the Piave River. Naturally Glera dominates, but great attention is paid to Bordeaux grapes, interpreted here with a focus on finesse and varietal expression. 2017 made for an excellent San Carlo, a Bordeaux blend that pours a lovely, bright ruby red. On the nose it releases a whirlwind of aromas, ranging from red fruit to spices refreshed by a subtle and clear florality. In the mouth it lengthens gracefully, unfolding with balance and great finesse. In terms of Glera, we make note of the gustatory richness of the Pietra Fine ’20.
