Over the years, Massimo Setaro and his wife Maria Rosaria have crafted a true "home-cum-winery", a testament to the deep bond between their family and the land. Based in the village of Trecase, on the slopes of Vesuvius and within the nature reserve, their vineyards stretch up to 350 meters above sea level on volcanic soils. Here they primarily cultivate caprettone and piedirosso grapes, which are showcased in various forms, including reds, whites, and an intriguing line of Metodo Classico sparklers. The Contradae '21 precisely conveys its volcanic origins. The wine opens on smoky verve, which intertwines with elegant spicy sensations, white and yellow flowers, and aromatic herbs. A subtle hint of benzene yields to an energetic, taut, and vibrant palate, one marked by great gustatory precision. The Pietrafumante Brut is also commendable, a Metodo Classico that reveals intense herbal notes, with a smoky vein paving the way to a palate adorned with silky, dynamic bubbles.
