Review

Vintner Luigi Peruzzetto holds high the flag of Piave, the great appellation that stretches from the Treviso hills to the shores of the Adriatic. The soils here see considerable concentrations of clay alternate with gravel, whose presence grows as you approach the river. The winery covers about 15 hectares in San Polo di Piave, where gravel-rich soil makes for lean, drained terrain. Luigi’s son Jacopo is proving increasingly important at the winery, bringing a youthful enthusiasm and a desire get involved. As always, the Raboso is a wine of great class. Its aromatic complexity is the result of careful viticultural choices and a long stay in the cellar. The 2014 vintage, complicated in summer but very interesting as of September, allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly, giving rise to a crisp and very harmonious wine.
