Cantine di Verona
This large Quinto cooperative, active mainly in the eastern part of Valpolicella, has for decades been offering a range of wines that express the traditions of the territory with immediate expressiveness and fragrance. For some years, however, a focus on their best vineyards has been delivering notable results, and quality has taken a leap forward with their Brolo dei Giusti line. The large area managed by the producer’s 250 members guarantees quality grapes which, depending on the area of origin, are marked by an innate richness or suppleness. 2013, an excellent year, made for an aromatically deep Amarone Brolo dei Giusti. Super-ripe cherries are followed by a universe of fine herbs, pepper and rain-soaked earth, the last of which gradually takes over the leading role. In the mouth the wine impacts with great power and decision, only to unfold gracefully by virtue of smooth tannins and an exquisite acidity. We also appreciated the Amarone Torre del Falasco ’17, which sees fruit dominate aromatically, and a juicy palate characterized by nice tension.
