After years of "cutting their teeth", Berritta has grown into a well-established winery. They operate in Dorgali, in eastern Sardinia (between Olbia and Tortolì), a region renowned for its cannonau. Indeed, this prominent Sardinian red is the estate's flagship, grown across twenty hectares, where excellent work is being done on individual vines. Sustainable viticulture and craftsmanship are the watchwords, alongside good old-fashioned hard work. Apart from cannonau, they also produce a vermentino and a panzale, a rare indigenous white grape from the Dorgali region. The Cannonaus are outstanding, starting with the Nostranu, which reached our finals. It emanates scents of Mediterranean scrub, red fruit, and dried flowers. The palate is meaty, sapid, finishing on a long, elegant, clean note. The Thurcalesu Vigna di Oddone is also superb, a single-vineyard wine that showcases how power and finesse can harmonize. Another noteworthy Cannonau is the Montetundu, while among the whites, the Panzale always intrigues. A wine from the grape of the same name, it's a sapid and flavorful drink.
