Ca’Lustra – Zanovello
The Zanovello family have been interpreting the wines of the Euganean Hills for almost half a century. First it was Franco, today it’s his children Marco and Linda, attentive vigneron who maintain a great respect for the cycles of nature and its rhythms. In short theirs are wines that don’t rely on unnecessary interference with the natural process of winemaking. The vineyards, which unfold mainly in the center-south of the territory, are largely dedicated to Bordeaux varieties, but there are also representatives from the diverse Moscato family. The Merlot Sassonero ’17 pours a lovely, warm ruby red, the prelude to a veiled aromatic profile, where fruit emerges quite slowly, only to be enriched with nuances as the minutes pass: first medicinal herbs, then dried flowers and finally a deep mineral note. In the mouth, on the other hand, it’s surefooted, supported by nice acidity and dense, pleasantly rough tannins. The Nero Musquè ’17, an alluring and harmonious passito, is vibrant in its exuberant, fruity sensations.
