The Broglia family cultivate a vast, 65-hectare estate in Gavi, drawing on experience that goes back to 1972 with Bruno Broglia's purchase of the land. Over the years, they have collaborated with the University of Turin to search for new clones and with the University of Milan to produce white wines without the addition of sulfur dioxide. Today, the third generation is carrying out a stylistic overhaul, introducing new labels and expanding into Tortona. Both the Gavi Vecchia Annata '15 and Il Bruno Broglia '19 showcase richness, depth, and exhilarating longevity. Aromas of ripe fruit, almonds, and dried flowers pervade, while the palate proves lively, multifaceted, and glycerine rich. Yet, the latter slightly outshone the former, earning Tre Bicchieri. The Timorasso Derthona '20 radiates charm and elegance. A bright straw-yellow color, it boasts a rich, uplifting aromatic profile with a medley of chamomile flowers, mimosa, medicinal herbs, grapefruit peel, lime, hints of gunpowder, and hydrocarbons. The palate is rounded, juicy, and mineral-laden, ending on a refreshingly crisp note.
