Antonio Caggiano's creation is more than just one of Irpinia's most beloved wineriesit's a place brimming with charm and history (including edifices built with local stone). Founded in the 1990s, the winery is led by Antonio's son Giuseppe, who's responsible for overseeing its 30 hectares of vineyards. Notable plots include Contrada Sala and Macchia dei Goti (two distinct aglianico crus). In addition to Taurasi, the winery's range excels with fiano, greco, and falanghina whites. The Béchar '22, a Fiano, plays on sensations of green almond, balsamic nuances, and candied lemon. In the mouth it opens rich, pulpy and fruity in the mid-palate, with a finish marked by herbal remnants. The Vigna Macchia dei Goti is a classic for the Taurasi appellation: a very spicy red, fruity with blueberries and black plum, possessing great tannic structure, substantive and plentiful. The Salae Domini '21 follows the same aromatic direction but is more supple and dynamic on the palate.
