After decades of vineyard expansion, with significant acquisitions in both Valpolicella Classica and Eastern Valpolicella, the Allegrini family shifted their focus to the winery. A few months ago, they started constructing a new facility near their historic headquarters in Fumane. Franco's legacy lives on through his sons Francesco, Giovanni, and Matteo, who, together with Marilisa and Silvia, are running the winery with increased confidence. The Amarone '19 is splendid, putting in a performance of great character. The nose gradually releases fruit, restrained by a subtle and captivating mineral note that also hints at spices and medicinal undertones. On the palate, it moves with the same rhythm, leaving the dense tannic structure to impart rigor and tension. The Poja '18 is the usual rich, elegant red, while the Valpolicella '22 delights with its fruity fragrance and gustatory suppleness.
