Review

Agostino Vicentini’s cellar, a small building where all winemaking and bottling is carried out, is situated in the foothills of San Zeno next to the family home. The secret to such a reliable and characterful range, however, lies in the vineyards and, even more so, in the passion with which Agostino, Teresa, Manuele and Francesca tend to them, convinced as they are that quality viticulture is the key to success. About 20 hectares on the nearby hills host the white grapes of Soave and the reds of Valpolicella. The Casale ’19 is a Soave from a low-yield vineyard, which makes for intense aromas of yellow fruit and dried flowers. In the mouth it impresses for its compactness. By virtue of acidity and, especially, sapidity, it lengthens through a crisp, assertive finish. The Terre Lunghe ’20 expresses fresher, more immediate and enticing fruit, which reemerges on a supple, racy palate.
