Description

Situated in the Bisol wine resort on the foggy, austere and quiet island of Mazzorbo (truly the "other Venice"), this exceptionally unique restaurant, a creature of the lagoon through and through, has experienced truly remarkable growth. And young Chiara Pavan has gotten a boost from the arrival of her boyfriend, Francesco Brutto, who closed Undicesimo Vineria in Treviso so as to pour his genius and taste for the unruly into Venissa. The two complement each other, she rigorous and enduring, he rhapsodic—and the game holds. There are so many ideas here that it borders on the avant-garde. Three menus: five courses for €110, seven courses for €140, nine courses for €170. The dishes draw on local, seasonal ingredients, with local herbs served alongside lagoon fish while exploring fermentation and acidity. Outstanding wines. The neighboring trattoria features traditional dishes comparable to that of the restaurant in terms of their quality and rigor.
