Description

A historic venue (Est. 1886), this renowned pastry shop is known throughout the area, especially for its legendary Venetian focaccia, which in the early-20th century won a prize in Paris and was even recognized by King Vittorio Emanuele II. Today guests come here for the fragrant croissants in the morning, for a breakfast accompanied by excellent coffee or a cappuccino of rare elegance. And in terms of their traditional cakes, they draw on recipes handed down through the generations. During Carnival, you can taste the obligatory selection of fried dough and galani made to perfection. But they also offer cream cannoncini, meringue, millefeuille and the unique "Greek cake" made with almonds (a specialty linked to Mantua's Jewish community). In the absence of outdoor seating, they've restyled the interiors to make a stop more pleasant.
