Founded in 1960 by Savino Maffei and still family-run (despite their significant growth and almost 80 years of experience in exports), Il Pastaio Maffei is a leader in the sector of fresh pasta production. Various lines of pasta are made: with durum wheat semolina, organic, wholemeal organic, with eggs, stuffed, gnocchi and ‘chicche’, gnocchi ‘tenerotti’ (minions) and more. They also offer an innovative gluten-free line, made with rice and corn flour and available either fresh or dried. Since 2016 Barletta has been 100% sustainable thanks to an innovative, high-efficiency power source with virtually zero emissions (an oil-free turbine), allowing the producer to make all the electricity and vapor needed to power their plant.
