Founded nearly a century ago by sugar producer Antonio Anfossi, here 17 hectares of land are given over mainly to basil. The I Freschi brand produces pesto using PDO Genoa basil, including a garlic-free version; walnut, Parmigiano Reggiano and pistachio sauce; cherry tomato and ricotta pesto. Under the company’s Olio di Liguria label it produces pesto; basil, artichoke, and arugula creams; pitted olives; olive pâté; and vegetable pâté. EVO is also available, as is a good Pigato DOC wine.
