A historic farm guided by principles of social responsibility and education, RisOristano has been active since the early 1800s, making it one of Italy's registered historic businesses. Marcello Stara has continued the family tradition by reviving the cultivation of rice (tried and then abandoned in the past). A combination of the position of the patties (at the foot of Montiferru), the proximity of the sea, the salty breezes and the clayey, volcanic soils (which retain water well) make for a unique microclimate and a type of rice with singular characteristics.
