Constituted of more than 70 members and overseen by Angelo Edward Ruggiero, the agricultural cooperative Dani Coop was founded so as to reestablish cultivation of the celebrated San Marzano tomato. Kiros, an officially recognized ecotype, is grown here in Sarno for the production of PDO peeled tomatoes, while purees and other products are derived from Smec 20, the preferred cultivar of the Slow Food Naples Tomato Conservation association. Production is carried out by specialized local businesses, which all bear the Gustarosso brand.
