Ferrero

Description

Pietro Ferrero opened a workshop in Alba, where he began some mouth-watering experiments. In 1946 ingredients were hard to find, but using one of the area's most abundant gems, the hazelnut, he invented Giandujot, the ancestor of Nutella, a gianduia paste that could be sliced and spread on bread. It was such a success that a single-serving version was made, called a Cremino. Expansion abroad began in the 1950s, and in 1957 Michele Ferrero gave his company a multinational dimension. The 1960s saw the creation of Pocket Coffee, TicTac and, above all, Nutella, which was an immediate worldwide success. The Kinder revolution dates back to 1968, first with Kinder milk chocolate fingers, then with Kinder eggs. Ferrero Spa today is an Italian multinational company, specializing in confectionery products and 100% owned by P. Ferrero & C.
