The previews of wines awarded by the Vini d'Italia 2020 guide of Gambero Rosso continue. Today it’s the turn of Lazio.

Tre Bicchieri 2020 Lazio. The Rome province

The first Tre Bicchieri arrives in Olevano Romano. It was obtained by Silene by Damiano Ciolli, a wine that interprets this grape boasting great drinkability and fruit freshness. In regards to the Cesanese del Piglio, winners at the top of the ranking are historical companies such as Coletti Conti or Casale della Ioria.
The first Tre Bicchieri also arrive for another historic company such as Castel de Paolis, thanks to its Frascati Superiore, while in the Roman territory, alongside the Tre Bicchieri for Fiorano Bianco of Tenuta di Fiorano and for Roma Rosso Limited Edition by Poggio Le Volpi the wines of the Rome denomination are reported as increasingly convincing.

Tre Bicchieri 2020 Lazio. The Latina province

In the province of Latina, Ponza with its biancolella established itself as one of the most interesting wine-growing areas. This time the Tre Bicchieri went to the Faro della Guardia by Casale del Giglio, but the wines proposed by the Migliaccio family, now regulars of our finals, were reconfirmed among the best white wines of Lazio.

Tre Bicchieri 2020 Lazio. The tests in amphora

Among the wines that most fascinated us are two Bellone wines matured in amphora, Radix by Casale del Giglio and Nzu by Marco Carpineti: the road they have taken seems very interesting, finally looking at a full enhancement of this grape variety.

Tre Bicchieri 2020 Lazio. The Viterbo province

Finally, in the Viterbo province, the names emerging are those of the usual suspects, starting with Sergio Mottura with his Grechetto Poggio della Costa, the Cotarella family and Montiano, and with wineries belonging to the elite of national wine production, such as Tenuta La Pazzaglia of the Verdecchia family, or San Giovenale by Emanuele Pangrazi.
In this regard it's worth emphasizing that the mere presence on our Guide testifies to the quality production, as well as if all companies aspire to conquer the Tre Bicchieri recognition, all the wines that reach our finals can legitimately be considered at the pinnacle of national wine production.
